Whoa! I’ve been an advocate for this rookie class since the draft went down. I’ve definitely taken my lumps for my belief in some of these players… but thankfully I’ve been able to hang my hat on Luka Doncic and DeAndre Ayton. This was obviously not good enough to carry a class, but it’s been respectable. BUT… WAIT… there is life in the other 50+ ROOKIES!! The last month we’ve seen an awakening in the PRIZM SILVER prices, mainly because of the emergence of this crop of rookies.
Let me help provide some perspective.
During the first week of LAST March (2018) the 2017-18 Prizm Silver Rookies were SCORCHING HOT. There was a solid crop of players above the $10 threshold and everyone was digging for Silver. Behind that craze… we saw an average of 122 Silvers sold for an average of $42 a rookie. That works out to about $5,500 in transactions for the first weeks in March 2018.
Well, this season we’ve seen the ebbs and flow of the season really impact Prizm Silver prices. There have been some nice bumps but some really tough drops. But the last 3-4 weeks we’ve seem the market come into bloom. During the FIRST week in March THIS YEAR here are the market averages.
405 Transactions with an average of $38.50 per RC SILVER…. for a total volume over over $15,000!
Yes, that’s 3x as much volume transacting within the marketplace at an average price within 10% of last year. That’s really really impressive.

We run reports on all rookies PRIZM SILVER sales for a given week. We exclude any variation, auto, or memorabilia prices to make sure you are getting a good representation of the actual silver pricing. We use silver prices as a baseline because they are considered by many to be the de facto standard for “base” rookie – NBA cards.
